Ta-Da!!

Homework

Finally getting around to the oxymoron prompt (with an idiom or two to round things out). I'm taking a wine course, and I have a presentation coming up on the wines of New Zealand. This photo is evidence of my research--really, my unquenchable thirst for knowledge. All nine bottles originally held New Zealand wines. No admissions about how long I have been pursuing this project.

"Across the river and [through] the trees"

... is Rodman Hall. For better or worse, the only thing Hemingway about this is the reading materials inside it. Anyway, there was a positively silver glow about the (newly naked) trees and the building when I took this, that does not seem to have translated onto my picture.

23 Yates St.

I always feel like I'd not be surprised by dragons or hobbits near this house, but what I actually encounter are BMWs and Porsches.

Japanese Maple

This glowed like Moses's burning bush in the garden in which I spotted it. Not sure the shot does it justice.

Textures in Green IV: Pine

I took this shot of a tall pine against a perfectly blue sky because of the colour contrast, and the way the needles nearly sparkled.

Mystique as Fearsome Beast

The tongue's the same....

Jack-O-Lanterns on the Hoof

I really do like the textures and colours of piles of pumpkins.

Hair Cut

Mystique with her new 'do. She spent the first couple of days being embarrassed, but has adjusted....

Mother Hubbard(s)

Squashes are brilliant subjects, imho.

Tool

I freely admit to a serious weakness for farm equipment--especially of the old, disused variety.

"My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."

I've always wondered what I would capture, shooting at a moving jet trail ... cool.

"I did not mean to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it" (J.S. Mill). "I have written on all sorts of subjects... yet I have no enemies; except indeed all the Whigs, all the Tories, and all the Christians" (D. Hume). One particularly pleasing element of this conjunction is that the Mill sign is not attached to the post itself, but to the Hume sign....

P.B. Shelley Would Be Pleased....

I've already used a bit of "Ode to the West Wind" as a title, but this works better: "Yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red..."

Respect Creativity...

Respect creativity, but not necessarily property. Graffiti on the Highway 406 bridge over 12-Mile Creek, but also a crafters' (and bloggers') credo if ever there was one.
