Vineyard

Wine and wineries are a pretty serious hobby of mine. This is a stand of Pinot Noir at Featherstone Estates.

Gol! Gol! Gol!

Family Outing

I've tried a couple of responses to this scene, but none of them seems quite right. I love it, though.

Rosehips After the Rain

Foul, Encore

I like the clothespins....

Permanent Crab

There are two hermit crabs at Kathy and Rolf's place, and Myra was fascinated by them, but she'd never heard the word "hermit" before, so called them "permanent crabs." I like that.

Ducks on a Dock

Port Dalhousie on a summer afternoon....

Myra

Yet another playground shot. We spend good time there.

Textures in Green III: Ivy

I'd like to learn more about capturing/expressing textures, but I love this wall of ivy. I think there's a latent William Morris interest going on here somewhere.

T-Time

I like the composition of this one, and I like that I'm finally getting to "scrub," at least in a cognate sense of the word....

Foul

I like the tensions and implied movement, especially of the three main figures in action, in this one.

My first zoom contribution.

Waiting

Myra discovered today's subject and then announced it with a shriek....

Fire Escape

Ever since I moved into this building, I have pondered this fire escape. I have wondered what it might be like to have to use it; I have wondered what it might be like to have a rendezvous (or even a smoke) on it; I have wondered what it might be like to use it to go next door to borrow a cup of sugar; I have even wondered what it might be like to attempt to grow herbs in a pot on it (only to have some drunk kid try to knock the pot down the night it went out there...); and I have been wondering recently how it might come out having its portrait taken. My neighbour was clearly wondering what on earth I was doing, dangling out of my livingroom window with my camera this afternoon. I like the picture, though the fire escape clearly needs more than a scrub.

Hoping for an Escher effect.

Scotch Thistle

Today has been brutally hot. Cicadas are shouting out their love songs, the water level in Twelve-Mile Creek is down (this is where Mystique and I have our favourite daily romp), and the thistles are in flower.

Kristine's Hat

This is Myra. She is three. If you ask her, she will tell you that she is "wonderful, smart, and ticklish." She spends lots of time trying to tire out Mystique, and is very successful in tiring me out. This is a borrowed hat that comes from Kristine, whom we both adore. It is just way too big, but somehow it suits.

Musing on John Ashbery

Hope this is not too much of a cliche.
Today felt like a good day for the obligatory self-portrait.
